5 Video Filming Tricks That Doubled My Sales Within Two Weeks

I sold electronics on Luuk for four months before I understood why my listings weren't converting. My prices were competitive. My products were genuine. My descriptions were accurate. But I was making ₦60,000 a month when the seller I looked up to in the same category was making ₦400,000.

The difference wasn't the product. It was the video.

I spent two weeks obsessively studying what top sellers were doing differently. Here are the five things I changed — and what happened after.

1. Hook in the first 3 seconds

Most sellers open their videos by introducing themselves, saying "welcome back," or showing the product from a distance. Buyers scroll past within two seconds. Top performers open with the most interesting moment — a screen lighting up, a speaker making a satisfying sound, a product doing exactly what a buyer hopes it does.

I changed my opening to show the product working first, then pull back to explain it. Average watch time on my videos went from 18 seconds to 47 seconds in week one.

2. Film near a window — never with a ceiling light

Ceiling lights create harsh shadows and make products look cheap. Natural window light is diffused, soft, and makes colours accurate. I moved my filming spot from the middle of my room to the corner next to my window. My product images immediately looked ₦10,000 more expensive without changing anything else.

Quick setup

Sit your product on a white surface next to a window. Film between 9am and 3pm when light is consistent. Use a white piece of cardboard on the opposite side to bounce light back and fill shadows.

3. Show the detail that answers the unasked question

Every buyer has a question they won't type. For electronics it's usually: "Is it original?" "Does the battery last?" "Is the screen scratched?" I started pre-answering these questions in every video — showing the serial number, demonstrating the battery level after a full day, doing a slow pan across every surface. Questions in comments dropped by 60%. Completed purchases went up.

4. Speak to one person, not a crowd

I used to say things like "for those of you looking for..." or "if anyone needs this..." Top sellers say "if you've been searching for something that does X, this is exactly it." Singular. Direct. It makes the buyer feel like you made the video for them personally.

"The moment I started saying 'you' instead of 'anyone,' my comment section changed. People stopped asking questions and started saying 'I want this.'"

5. End with the price and the protection

Don't bury the price. Say it clearly at the end: "This is ₦45,000, fully covered by Luuk escrow — your money is safe until it arrives at your door." That one sentence — product, price, protection — closes more sales than any discount.

After two weeks of applying all five of these, my monthly revenue went from ₦60,000 to ₦138,000. The products were identical. The videos were not.
