How to Price Your Products for Maximum Conversion on Luuk
Pricing on a video marketplace is not the same as pricing on a photo catalogue or a WhatsApp broadcast. The dynamics are different because the buyer experience is different. Understanding this distinction is worth more than any pricing formula I could give you β but I'll give you the formula too.
Why video changes perceived value
When a buyer sees your product in a well-filmed video β held, demonstrated, explained by a real person β they form a much stronger sense of value than they do from a static photo. This means you can price at the upper end of your market range and still convert, provided your video quality matches the price point.
Conversely, a great product in a terrible video will feel overpriced at any price. The video is not just content. It is the perception of value.
The rule of thumbIf your video quality is top 20% in your category, you can price top 30% and still beat the market on conversions. If your video is average, price 10β15% below the category average to compensate.
The negotiation buffer
Luuk buyers negotiate. Not all of them, but enough that your listed price should include a negotiation buffer of 8β15% depending on your category. This is not dishonest β it's expected. A buyer who negotiates and reaches a price they helped set is more committed to the purchase than a buyer who accepted a fixed price they had no input on.
Calculate your minimum acceptable price first. Then add 10% for the negotiation buffer. List at that price. When a buyer counters at 85β90% of your listed price, you're still at or above your minimum.
Category-specific notes
- Fashion: Price sensitivity is high. Negotiation is expected. Build in 12β15% buffer. Offer free delivery above a threshold to increase order value.
- Electronics: Price sensitivity is lower β buyers care more about condition and authenticity. Price accurately, show the serial number, and don't negotiate below genuine cost. The escrow is your trust signal, not your price.
- Food & consumables: Fixed pricing works better here. Buyers in this category are buying on convenience, not negotiation.
- Handmade & crafts: These buyers understand that handmade has a premium. Price your time. Don't undervalue craftsmanship to compete with mass-produced items β you will lose that race.
The weekend pricing tactic
List at a slightly higher price MondayβFriday. On Friday afternoon, announce a "weekend price" that is your actual target price. Buyers feel they're getting a deal. You get your margin. The urgency of a time-limited price moves browsers to buyers.
This only works if you actually revert the price on Monday. Buyers who notice the "weekend price" is always the price will stop believing the offer.
Test, don't guess
The only pricing strategy that is always right is iteration. Post the same item at three different price points across three different time periods and track which converts best. Luuk's analytics dashboard shows you per-video conversion rates. Use it. The market knows the right price better than any formula β you just have to ask it.
"I raised my prices 20% across the board when I improved my video quality. My revenue went up 35%. Pricing is not just about cost plus margin. It's about the story your video tells."
